After graduating college, I traveled throughout Eastern Europe (2000-2001) and met many other travelers. One of the most interesting was this family from Australia. The parents were teachers, and they were back-packing with their three young kids during their summer vacation. I thought: "what a great way to spend your summer!"
Beth, a teacher who inspired me
In 2001 I met a teacher in the Chicago Public Schools. Beth was a caring teacher, whose students would call her on her cell phone if they had any problems.
Beth was her students' teacher, counsuelor, mother, sister and friend. She was their everything it seemed.
